A 10 Step Guide to Apply Conditioner Correctly

A lot of emphasis is being given in the recent days to conditioning your hair post shampooing and rightly so. It is really important to condition your hair not just because it could leave your hair with the texture that you desire for it but also because it could keep your hair safe from the chemicals used in shampoos and the damage that they cause to your hair.

How do you know if you are conditioning your hair right? Here’s a mini-guide to conditioning your hair that can help you do it right. All you have to do is follow these 10 steps to make sure your hair is treated well.

A 10 Step Guide to Apply Conditioner Correctly:
• Choose a conditioner that is right for your hair. If your hair is dry, use a moisturizing conditioner, if your hair has recently been colored, use a color-protecting conditioner and so on.
• After shampooing your hair, make sure that it has been washed off your hair completely before you apply the conditioner.
• Take not too much and not too little conditioner into your hand and start applying it onto your hair.
• Apply to the ends of the hair to start with as the ends of the hair are prone to most of the damage that is caused to the hair.

• Rub the conditioner gently onto the rest of your hair making sure that it is spread throughout. Don’t apply to the scalp as conditioner was meant for usage only to the hair and not the scalp.
• Leave it on for about 5 minutes or whatever the instructions on the bottle suggest. (Don’t leave it over for more than the time that was suggested on the package hoping for better results as it could sometimes get sticky and difficult to wash off).
• Rinse the conditioner off your hair using lukewarm water for enough time that the whole conditioner is washed off.

• Wash your hair with colder water after that.
• Dry your hair or just let the hair dry up by itself as it is always better not to use any kind of heat treatment (including blow drying) on your hair.

• After your hair completely dries up, apply a leave-on serum to retain the sheen through to the next time you wash it.
Choosing the right conditioner and using it regularly can do wonders to your hair transforming it and rendering it just the way you want it.
